A post-modern argument for the metaverse

A post-modern argument for the metaverse
While post-modern arguments really can’t even fit in the land of objective truths, or meat space they have a very strong bearing in the virtual and digital space.

Now if you are rolling your eyes, I understand but hear me out. Let us dive into the world of VR chat it’s a strange place one that perhaps may seem inappropriate and strange to those looking from the outside and indeed when children are running around in the same world screaming in the avatar of the master chief it is.
But let’s forget about the children for a second cos frankly they shouldn’t be in there in the first place.
let’s talk about identity, I know it is a subject that is talked about all the time in our age but here we go. In virtual space you don’t have one you are born into it as you are wise to be, even Twitter has this right now there are 1000s of people who use a green frog to ID themselves, there are people who use apes, and other people who use apes. One section is perhaps more sexually charged than the other. But this dual Identity already exists so what happens when we take it further?
Well, when we start becoming avatars be it in the world of warcraft, VR chat, or even Twitter we can see that people can pick their identity even the one you were assigned at birth is no longer relevant you are as you chose to be. Hell, in the VR world there is no such thing as up or down objectivity going out the window, you are as you wish to be without any restrictions.
Now here comes the fun part, remember DR kings dream, that a man will not be judged but the color of his skin but the content of his character well here we are you can be the pool’s closed guy.

Or even the pools open guy

And no one knows who you are behind the screen or glasses that are stuck to your face. And perhaps we are seeing the building blocks of a world like this start to form before our eyes. It is just misplaced in the meatspace world when we move into the virtual more, I think we will see a world where people are no longer what they look like but what they talk about. I mean really how are you going to understand someone who is ever-changing. One day your talking to an anime girl the next winni the poo, then a stormtrooper. When form no longer matters how will you possibly judge people other than based on their ideas and personality? And boom I just moved it away from a post-modern argument in fact I may have just thought of a new paradigm I call virtual invalidism.
